The 25th Annual RI Statewide
Historic Preservation Conference

Saturday, April 24

Preservation is Local

For the first time in its 25-year history, the Annual Statewide Preservation Conference will take place in Little Compton. The theme is "Preservation is Local"--featuring the issues, initiatives, and successes for community preservation projects. Our homebase will be the cluster of buildings in and around the Commons, and tours will explore the surrounding area, including Tiverton and Adamsville.

Planning is underway. What do you want to learn about historic preservation? We need your input on conference sessions, tours, and speakers. Conference sessions run 75 minutes long and focus on relevant preservation topics. This includes--but is not limited to--planning, landscapes, technology, sustainability, open space, farms, waterfronts, artistry, design, economics, housing, smart growth, museums, advocacy, policy, neighborhood revitalization, education, etc. Conference tours run either 1.25, 2.25, or 3 hours long, and will focus on Little Compton and Tiverton.

The conference theme is intentionally inclusive; don't hesitate to suggest a topic, tour, or speaker.

To make a suggestion, send an email to Sarah Zurier. If you are suggesting a topic for a tour or session, please include the names of potential speakers or organizations that might participate. Thank you!
